census records. Residences & events: 1850 Moultrie Co, IL. In the census, Fielding was a cooper withoutproperty. He and Mariah had 4 children at that time, but only theyoungest would have been theirs together. 1860 Moultrie Co, IL. Fielding was a farmer with property = $400 atcensus time. Living with the family was his step-daughter, LouisaMiller, 20, assistant. 1866 E Nelson Twp, Moultrie Co, IL. He was among those petitioningfor a road . 1870 Jonathan Creek Twp, Moultrie Co, IL. At census time his age wasrecorded as 50 when it was actually 54. He was a farmer with personalproperty of $500 and living with his family was Eliza J Miller, 30,with no occupation. Eliza was probably one and the same as Louisafrom the previous census. Next door was the Salathial Miller familywho had a John Webb, 24, living with them as a farm hand. 9/6/1871 He paid a school tax for his property at T14 R6 which hemust have bought within the past year because in 1870 he had told thecensus taker he had no real estate. |
