Jacob and Rebecca had 5 children. Census records say he was abootmaker. Residences & events in his life: 11/6/1861 Chilicothe, Ross Co, IL. He enlisted for a 3 year stint inthe Civil War with Co I of the OH Vols which mustered at Camp Loganwith Louis A Burkett as commanding officer. He was in the battles ofMcDowell, Cross Keys, Cedar Mts, Freeman Ford, the second battle atBull Run, Chancellorsville, and finally Gettysburg where he waswounded. The wound supposedly contributed to his death years later. 4/18/1864 Baltimore, MD was where he received his discharge ondisability. Some family traditions say that he lost a leg. |
