This was recorded as his residencewhen he mustered out of Civil War service where he was a Corporal inthe 135th IL Inf-C for a 1 year term. 1880 Newman Twp, Douglas Co, IL. His family at census time consistedof his wife and 5 children. He was a farmer. Living in the same areawere brothers, James and Joshua. 1900 Murdock Twp, Douglas Co, IL. Nathan was still a farmer and hada full house. The youngest 2 children were probably children ofdaughter Mary, and should have been listed as grandchildren ratherthan son and daughter. |
| Nathan told the 1900 census taker they had been married 35 years whileMary told him it was only 34. The latter is probably correct as shewould have been only 14 at that time. |
