The family said John had 12 children with one dying in infancy.

Residences & events:

1900 N Okaw Twp, Coles Co, IL. At census time, besides a large familyof 6 children, his father-in-law and another Abston relative livedwith him as a boarder.

1918 Humboldt, N Okaw Twp, Coles Co, IL. The county farmer listingsaid he owned 100 acres in S10. The names of wife, Jane, and allchildren were also included as well as saying he had been a countyresident since 1860.
