His name depends on which document you are reading. In his father'swill it was John, census records have Josiah. It is possible that hewas named for both his father and Grandfather Josiah McGuire.

Scott Co, IN, where he was born.

Washington Co, IN

1856 Cooks Mills, Coles Co, IL. He probably arrived in the sameparty with sibilings, James and Polly, and their families. In thecounty history is the following: "Somewhere on the trail a tragicthing happened, a child of one of the party fell out of the wagon andwas run over and killed. They buried it as best they could and aftera while, proceeded on westward."

1860 Coles Co, IL. He was living with his brother, James, at censustime.

Josiah was a Pvt of Co F 3rd IL Cav in the Civil War.

1870 N Okaw Twp, Coles Co, IL. Josiah was a farmer with property =$1200/400 according to the census. Clarrissa Price, 11, Margaret'sniece, also lived with his family. The family lived in a row ofWhitleys: Margaret's brother, John, next door, 2 doors down weretheir parents, the next house contained her sister, Bashie Williams,and next was sister, Malinda Price.

1900 Still at the same residence, his family lived next door todaughter, Mary & Nicholas Easton, and family. Brother-in-law, EmanuelFloyd, was living with him as a boarder.
The 1900 census says his birth date was Jun 1835.
His final days were spent under the care of daughter Sylvia at WestSalem, IL.
