1830 Vermilion Co, IN. Probably due to Indian unrest, he wiselymoved the family back to safer ground, avoiding the full fledgeduprising in 1832 which killed the father-in-law of brother, Moses.There was a Lewis Miller living there who was probably the familyfriend for whom Simon named one son.

1850 Knole Twp, Shelby Co, IL. He was living next door to hisbrother, Moses, but in the census his property was recorded as beingin KY instead of IL.

1/12/1857 Moultrie Co, IL. He was chosen Superintendent of PublicInstruction.

1860 Pana, Christian Co, IL, was his residence in the census with his2nd wife, Cassandra.
