Notes for Aaron Jr COLLINS


Aaron was farmer.

He could read but not write by 1870.

Residences:

1822-1831 North Carolina

1831 Coles Co, IL

1850 Greasy Creek, Coles Co, IL. In the census, he was living nextdoor to the Watson Collins family.

1860 Morgan Twp, Coles Co, IL. This was probably the same address aslast entry. At census time, he had $100 worth of property andWatson's youngest children, Daniel, Martha, & Elisha, were living withthem. They had taken the children after their mother died.

1866 The tax assessor listed: 25 acres in corn, 10 in other grain; 4horses @ $125, 7 cattle @ $89, 17 sheep @ $25, 4 hogs @ $14; 1carriage @ $5; $20 enumerated property. Total = $278.

1870 Curtisville, Morgan Twp, Coles Co, IL. His personal property =$400 and his uncle/father-in-law, Adam Collins, 75, was living withhim.

1880 Morgan Twp, Coles Co, IL. Only daughter, Cena, was at home.Joseph Boxom, 25, farm hand was also listed there in the census.
Cemetery records state he arrived in Illinois in 1830, not 1831.
