Please note. This site has been significantly reformatted. I will be putting up the Van Gundy Family Tree in several different web formats (this one created by GEDPage). You can then decide which format you prefer to use to search the tree. Please be patient as this takes some time to put together for Web Publishing and then uploading of thousands of web pages.

Notes for Zachariah W DAVEE

Residences & events:

1850 IN, where his first child was born.

1851, Cumberland Co, IL, where the 2nd child arrived.

1855 Cumberland Co, IL. The state census taker recorded his householdconsisting of 2 males under 10, himself at 20-30, 2 daughters under 10and his wife, same age as himself. Father, Benjamin, lived next door.

1860 Cumberland Co, IL. At census time he was listed as a farmerwith property = $4000/500. Next door was the Charles Powell family, also from Indiana. His father lived several houses down the road.

Apparently he was appointed guardian of his 3 Parker nephews, sons ofsister, Malinda, following the death of their father but in 1867 courtrecords he was the "former guardian."

1869-1870 Greenup, IL. Zachary was appointed police constable.

1870 In the census Zachary operated a livery stable with property =$8000/2000. Son, Isaac, worked in the stable and a Sarah Dawson, 23,lived with the family. Son, Daniel, lived 3 doors down the street anddaughter, Martha Goodwin, lived 3 doors down the other way.
The Majority Point, IL, byline of the newspaper carried the notice ofhis death: "Mr. Zack Davee an old citizen of Greenup died at thisresidence in that city on last Saturday." Since this man wasn't allthat old, perhaps the notice and death date belong to anotherZachariah Davee.
