Notes for Robert MCILVAIN

In various deeds Robert's last name was spelled McIlwain, Mucklewain,McElvain, and McIlvain!

This man may be a brother to (John) rather than a son. His wife andyoungest sons, George and Andrew, were mentioned in hisfather-in-law's will in 1772.

Residences & events:

7/1/1762 Strasburg Twp, Lancaster Co, PA. Robert received a grantfrom the PA Land Co for a large tract of land.

8/18/1762 He and wife, Mary, promptly sold 335 acres of that land toa James Kenney for 113 pounds, 1/3d and another 125 acres to ThomasErwin for 314 pounds. Mary signed her name with an X on both deeds.

His will was not proved until 7/2/1772. It named his wife, Mary, andchildren: Elizabeth, Margaret, Robert, William, Mary, George, andAndrew, as well as brother-in-law, Rev George Duffield.
