She left 4 little daughters aged 6,4,2,and 1 month when she died. Delbert's mother and sister, Grace, moved in to take care of the children for him. When Delbert moved to a new church at Jefferson, OK, they moved back home, taking the 2 youngest with them. After Delbert remarried, they relinquished the girls.

1861 Atchison Co, MO He bought a mill which had been in operation on the Big Tarkio Creek for several years. Two or three years later VanGundy & Co erected a new water power flour mill near the old mill at a cost of $15,000, then added a saw mill in 1866.
8/1874 The Irish Grove Lodge was organized with John and brother, Samuel, among the first officers, both serving for 4 of the next 7 years. Alexander, was eventually also elected to a post. John and Samuel also built the frame building, where the lodge met on the second floor, at a cost of $3000.
