1881 He became the Twp Treasurer.

He left an estate worth $1200 to his widow and 2 children. His will
as witnessed by Hannah M Powell (wife), James M Powell (father), and
James S Drew (brother-in-law).

Hannah Matilda Pattin was born on 24 Apr 1858 in IN. She died on 27 May 1936 in Moultrie Co, IL. She was buried in Jonathan Creek Cem, Moultrie Co, IL. She married John Lisle POWELL on 3 Apr 1876 in Moultrie Co, IL, at the bride's home.

1900 Hickory Twp, Coles Co, IL. Apparently she never remarried following John's death as her name was still Powell in the census where she was head of the house with 2 children still at home, CB and Myra, and a Ves Miller, 12, also living there, no relationship stated.

1913 Guyman, OK, was her residence when she attended the Powell family reunion in Sullivan, IL. Perhaps she was living with or near children there.

1931 Terre Haute, Vigo Co, IN, was her address at reunion time, as was daughter Myra Rankin. Perhaps Hannah lived with Myra and her husband.

He married, had 2 boys and 1 girl, names unknown.
  M ii Homer H POWELL was born on 14 Jun 1880 in Moultrie Co, IL. He died on 6 Oct 1883. He was buried in Jonathan Creek Cem, Moultrie Co, IL.

The 1880 census recorded his name as Lisle M but since he was a
newborn, his permanent name may have been decided later.

He and his father died the same month.

Francis Marion "Frank" POWELL [Parents] was born on 25 Dec 1854 in Shelby Co, IL. He died in 1932. He was buried in Arthur Cem, Arthur, Moultrie Co, IL. He married Leoma "Leona" Drew on 30 Dec 1875 in Moultrie Co, IL, at the bride's home.

1875 Moultrie Co, IL. At age 21 he rented a farm which he worked in the summers while teaching school for 3 years.

1879 Moultrie Co, IL. He bought an 80 acre farm which he later sold and bought a hardware store from H.O. Snyder & Co. He kept a stock of about $4,000 in the store and in connection with that, also operated a harness business.

1900 Bourbon Twp, Douglas Co, IL. In the census, he was a grain dealer. Sons, Sylvan and Otis, were still at home.

1907 Tuscola, Douglas Co, IL

1915 461 E Condit St, Decatur, Macon Co, IL, was their address when grandson, Hugh, married. Frank was a grain dealer with offices in the Gushard and Wait buildings. On source said he carried on business there for 15 years, buying grain in Arthur, Fairbanks, Cadwell, and Tuscola.

Prior to moving to Hammond, they were given a surprise farewell party at the home of son, Otis, by the Atwood Crochet Club of which Leona was a member. "The evening was pleasantly spent in conversation and music. Pumpkin pie, sandwiches and coffee were served. The other surprise occurred when their grandson, Lieutenant Hugh P Rigney, who
is home on a ten days' leave from Camp Hancock, appeared with a bride."

1915 Hammond, Douglas Co, IL, where he was in charge of the grain elevator.

1921 Decatur, Macon Co, IL was his address at the time of the annual Powell family reunion.

1923 Denver, CO

1925 California was their residence when they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

1926 & 1927 Decatur, Macon Co, IL, was his address when he signed the Powell family reunion rosters.

1928 Arthur, Douglas Co, IL, was their address when Leona was moved to the IOOF Home in Mattoon.

1928 IOOF home, Mattoon, Coles Co, IL. It is uncertain if Frank moved into the nursing home at the same time as Leona or a little later. At any rate, he too was a resident there.

1931 He attended the Powell reunion for the last time.

His death was noted in the Powell family reunion notes.

Leoma "Leona" Drew was born in Oct 1855 in Moultrie Co, IL. She died in 1934 in Jacksonville, Morgan Co, IL, at the State Hospital. She was buried in Arthur Cem, Arthur, Moultrie Co, IL. She married Francis Marion "Frank" POWELL on 30 Dec 1875 in Moultrie Co, IL, at the bride's home.

After residing in the IOOF home in Mattoon since 1928, she was transferred to the hospital about 1 year prior to her death. Her death must have occurred in the first half of the year as she was mentioned in the 1934 Powell family reunion as deceased.

Her funeral was held in the Arthur Christian Church on Thursday at 10
AM.

  M ii Sylvan Z POWELL was born in Oct 1879. He died on 30 Nov 1956.

Otis seems to have been the leader of family activities, being
instrumental in most of the big bashes. It is unknown if he ever
married or had children.

his parent's 50th Anniversary article.

1932 Denver, CO, was his addres when his father died.

Simon Peter REED was born in 1851. He married Mary Elizabeth POWELL on 16 Sep 1875 in Moultrie Co, IL, at the ministers residence.

Mary Elizabeth POWELL [Parents] was born on 26 Mar 1858 in IL. She died after 1941. She married Simon Peter REED on 16 Sep 1875 in Moultrie Co, IL, at the ministers residence.

In the 1870 census at age 12, he was listed as a farm worker on the
family farm.

They were still there in 1923 when his wife attended the Powell family reunion at Sullivan, IL.

Mary Elizabeth POWELL [Parents] was born on 26 Mar 1858 in IL. She died after 1941. She married James S DREW on 29 Nov 1877 in Moultrie Co, IL, at the bride's home.

Orlando Lincoln POWELL [Parents] was born on 27 Nov 1860 in Sullivan, Moultrie Co, IL. He died on 14 Jun 1903 in Arthur, Moultrie Co, IL. He was buried in Arthur Cem, Arthur, Moultrie Co, IL. He married Laura May COFER on 28 Apr 1895 in Lovington, Moultrie Co, IL.

His death was the result of appendicitis.

Laura May COFER was born in 1870. She died in Sep 1936. She married Orlando Lincoln POWELL on 28 Apr 1895 in Lovington, Moultrie Co, IL.

Some sources had 9/1962 as her death date, however, the date as posted is from the Powell family reunion notes.

Walter LIGHT.Walter married Ida Mae POWELL on 29 Apr 1890.

Ida Mae POWELL [Parents] was born on 11 Feb 1865 in Moultrie Co, IL. She died in May 1937 in Montgomery, AL, probably. She was buried in Arthur Cem, Arthur, Moultrie Co, IL. She married Walter LIGHT on 29 Apr 1890.

Powell family reunion notes recorded her death in 1933 and again in 1937. Perhaps there were 2 Ida Cornwells.

She was buried with her second husband, Arthur Cornwell, the
whereabouts of the first husband being unknown.
