He married Martha Jane PREWITT on 6 Oct 1825 in Morgan Co, IL. Woolery resided in 1830 in Morgan Co, IL.

Grandson, Nathan, was a mail carrier in Jacksonville, IL.

1830 Morgan Co, IL. At census time Woolery had living in his house 1 male 50-60, possibly his father-in-law, himself at 20-30, 1 male under 5, his wife at 20-30, and 2 females under 5.

1832 He "saw service in the old Black Hawk War."

Abt 1834 Coles Co, IL. He was listed among the early settlers of the county.

7/20/1836 Coles Co, IL. Woolery bought 2 pieces of Federal lands, each containing 40 acres, for $1.25/acre in S17 R07E T13N. His place of residence was also Coles Co at that time.

1840 Jasper Co, MO, where several of his children were born.

1850 Bourbon Co, KS where the census taker found him.

1856 Crawford Co, KS where he died.

Martha Jane PREWITT was born on 16 May 1809 in Morgan Co, IL. She died on 13 Nov 1889 in Cato, Crawford Co, KS. She married Woolery COONROD on 6 Oct 1825 in Morgan Co, IL.

Jane's family settled in Morgan Co, IL, in 1809.

He remarried a Burbank in 1828, Morgan Co, IL.

Dollie COONROD [Parents] was born in 1805/1810 in Franklin Co, OH. She died before 1826 in Scott Co, IL. She married Orlando KELLOGG about 1824.

Orlando remarried and had a namesake son in 1826. Dollie died 1 year after their marriage.


Jonas COONROD [Parents] was born about 1815 in Harrison Twp, Pickaway Co, OH. He died in 1850 in Scott Co, IL. He married Sybil Edsen on 30 Dec 1835 in Morgan Co, IL, by Absolom Peak, JP. Jonas resided in 1830 in Scott Co, IL.

1840 Winchester Twp, Scott Co, IL. At census time he was 20-30 years old, his wife was the same, and they had one daughter under 5. Next door was the David Van Gundy family.

8/10/1842 Scott Co, IL. He bought 20 acres from Alfred & Bidey Mills for $80.

He was born after 12/31/1814.

Civil War records for son, John, said he was left an orphan at age 9.

He was living with his sister, Mary Ann and David Van Gundy, at census
time.

Sybil Edsen was born about 1810 in VT. She died about 1843 in Scott Co, IL. She married Jonas COONROD on 30 Dec 1835 in Morgan Co, IL, by Absolom Peak, JP.

Name discrepancy, one source says Sally Ditson, sounds very much like
Sybil Edsen.

Jonas remarried in 1844.

Being recently orphaned, she and brother, John and Henry, were living with Uncle David Van Gundy and family at census time in 1850.

Louisa LOWE was born in 1830 in IL. She married Jonas COONROD on 25 Apr 1844 in Scott Co, IL.

Louisa was a half sister to Bidey Mills, wife of Albert Mills. See notes on Jonas.

Following Jonas' death, she abandoned the step-children and moved in with the Alex Beall family where the census taker found her in 1850.

She remarried in 1851 to a Fredrick Palmer and had 5 daughters by 1860.


William Davis.William married Margaret BURBANKS on 29 Mar 1838 in Morgan Co, IL.

Margaret BURBANKS was born in 1800/1810 in VA. She married William Davis on 29 Mar 1838 in Morgan Co, IL.

Apparently Margaret died shortly after her second marriage because the children were soon scattered out among relatives, mostly in Pike Co, IL.


Jeremiah C BUCHANAN was born in 1790/1800 in TN. He died in 1833 in Scott Co, IN. He married Elizabeth "Betsy" COONROD.

bought 80 acres in T15 R13.

1830 Morgan Co, IL. In the census, there were living in his house 1
male 30-40, 1 male 20-30, 1 female 20-30, and 3 females under 5, next
door was brother-in-law, James Mills, and Adam Coonrod lived 2 doors
down. David Van Gundy was just down the road the other direction.

He was a veteran of the Black Hawk War.

He died of cholera.

Elizabeth "Betsy" COONROD [Parents] was born in 1807 in Franklin Co, OH. She died in 1877 in Scott Co, IL. She married Jeremiah C BUCHANAN.

Some genealogists say she was born in VA in 1803.

  F ii Isabelle Matilda BUCHANAN was born on 3 Oct 1828 in Naples, Scott Co, IL. She died on 27 Nov 1886 in Naples, Scott Co, IL.

  M iv Jeremiah C Jr BUCHANAN was born in 1838 in Exeter, Scott Co, IL. He died in 1886 in IL.

He went to California during the Gold Rush but returned to Illinois, apparently none the wealthier.
  M v James M BUCHANAN died before 1889.

Served 1 yr in Civil War, died 3 days after returning home.

Edward Black.Edward married Martha Jane COONROD in 1844.

Martha Jane COONROD [Parents] was born on 13 Mar 1828 in Morgan Co, IL. She died on 22 Mar 1898 in KS. She married Edward Black in 1844.


Henry W Sr Wissler [Parents] was born in 1749 in Lancaster Co, PA, by Rev Henry Matthews. He died in 1832 in Salt Creek Twp, Pickaway Co, OH. He was buried in Prairie View Cem, Salt Creek Twp, Pickaway Co, OH. He married Ann Seegrist about 1770.


Residences & events in his life:

1757 Donegal Twp, Lancaster Co, PA. In the tax list, he owed 9s for his property. He and his widowed mother, Anna, were the only Wisslers in that twp and one can only assume that he, being the youngest at 18, stayed behind with his mother until her death while the rest of the family moved on. Neighbors were the Seegrist family, relatives of his wife.

1772 Earl Twp, Lancaster Co, PA. He was listed among the freemen of the county, he owed taxes of 15.0, his property was not listed.

1773 Breaknock Twp, Lancaster Co, PA. He was again among the county taxpayers, this time he had 17 acres and 3 cattle for which the tax was 3.0.

1783 Newbrittain Twp, Bucks Co, PA. Having moved sometime within the past 10 years, he now owned 50 acres, 1 horse and 1 cattle but no servants at tax time. The amount of tax was not recorded.

8/1806 Pickaway Co, OH. "Henry came with his wife and 10 children. He had purchased over 1100 acres of land from John Shoemaker in the SW part of the twp for $5.00/acre. He moved into a cabin which stood just across the road from where the residence of Samuel Wissler now stands, and which was occupied by a squatter family by the name of
Sweigert. In a few months Mr. Wissler built a two story log house on the location of the former shanty, and resided there until he death about the year 1830. His wife died in 1811. One child was born to them after their settlement. To each of his eleven children he gave 150 acres of land."

1830 Salt Creek Twp, Pickaway Co, OH. At census time he and sons, George, John, and Samuel, were all neighbors while Jacob and Michael lived just down the road.

There is a conflict between Henry's birthdate as posted and that of his children, he should be much older.

Henry's will, dated 4/2/1831, was probated 6/11/1832. Son, Michael, was named executor and Aaron Jones and John T. Martin were witnesses. The will mentions daughters, Catherine, wife of Isaac Worline, Barbara Welty widow, Anna Van Gundy, Magdaline Biegler and Mary Wolf; sons, Michael, John, Henry, George, Samuel, and Jacob.

Two grandchildren were buried beside Henry and Anna, a third was a few plots down. All were children of Jacob "Cob" and Sarah Whisler.

Ann Seegrist [Parents] was born in 1753 in Lancaster Co, PA, by Rev Henry Matthews. She died in 1811 in Salt Creek Twp, Pickaway Co, OH. She was buried in Prairie View Cem, Salt Creek Twp, Pickaway Co, OH. She married Henry W Sr Wissler about 1770.

There is a conflict between Ann's birth and death dates and that of her children's birth. She was too young for some, too old for others as posted.

  F ix Phoebe Wissler was born about 1800. She died before 1831.
  M x Jacob "Cob" WISSLER was born on 1 Jul 1801. He died on 10 Sep 1882.
  F xi Magdalena Martha WISSLER was born in 1802. She died in 1885.
  F xii Catherine "Katy" Wissler was born on 1 Mar 1806.
  F xiii Mary WISSLER was born about 1808.

John ZUG\ZUCK\Zook was born on 13 Nov 1772 in Somerset Co, PA. He died on 1 Jan 1863 in Marion Co, OH. He was buried in Zuck-Likens Cem, Marion Co, OH. He married Ann\Anna Van Gundy in 1798 in Somerset Co, PA.

His name was anglicized from Zug to Zuck and later some of his grandchildren changed the name to Zook.

His family included a long list of "Brethren, Amish, or Mennonite ministers and at least one bishop." His father's lineage was traced "back to Hans Zaugg, born about 1630, who was a prominent preacher in the Anabaptist movement." and "preached separation of church and state, and nonresistance."

He was a farmer.

Ann\Anna Van Gundy [Parents] was born on 2 Jan 1781 in Earl Twp, Lancaster Co, PA. She died on 30 Jul 1868 in Marion Co, OH. She was buried in Zuck-Likens Cem, Marion Co, OH. She married John ZUG\ZUCK\Zook in 1798 in Somerset Co, PA.

She was listed on the 6th roster of the Pioneers of First Families of Ohio, arriving in 1811.

They had the following children:
