She was John's 2nd wife and this was her second marriage as well. She was probably a sister to John Sidenbender who married Ann Van Gundy...i.e. brother and sister married brother and sister.

William was living with John in 1860 in the Bond Co, IL census but may have been a nephew rather than son. The census taker recorded his birth place as IL but John probably didn't arrive in IL until the 1850s.

Isaac VAN GUNDY [Parents] was born on 6 Mar 1805. He died on 3 Aug 1871. He married Sarah Ann O'CONNER on 10 Jul 1837 in Fairfield Co, OH.
He and Sarah had 7 children.

He served from 6/4/1846 to 6/1847 with the rank of Pvt in the Mexican War with Co I 2nd Rgmt, Ohio State Militia, Chilicothe, OH.
There is an interesting story told in the 1883 History of Fairfield Co, OH, which may not apply to this man but since he married there and is the only one remotely associated with the county, it is added here. This story was told by Henry Leonard, of Liberty Twp:
"More than sixty years ago Father Gundy, of that township, contracted forty head of fat hogs to Mr. Buckingham, of Zanesville, for one dollar and fifty cents per hundred, net weight, which, according to the custom of the day, was to be found by deducting one-fifth of the gross. Gundy drove his hogs to Zanesville, a distance of forty miles, but Buckingham would not take them, saying that the market price was only one dollar and twenty-five cents. Gundy declined to sell his pork at any such figure, and turning away, walked back to his home in Liberty township, leaving the hogs to care for themselves. Within three weeks every hog of the forty was back on the Gundy farm. Almost the entire distance traveled was a wilderness. Gundy afterwards got his price, one dollar and fifty cents, at Chillicothe."
