4/16/1890 Fort Smith, Sebastian Co, AR was his address when he applied for an invalid pension based on his Civil War service stating he was totally disabled and could not perform his duties as a farmer. Apparently he had learned to read and write as he signed his name.

1900 Ozark Twp, Polk Co, AR. By census time that year he was remarried with a whole new family of 3 children plus a step-daughter.
