1850 Hamilton Twp, Franklin Co, OH. The census recorded him as a farmer with property = $11,800 and 4 children.

1880 At census time, both John and Eliza were 69 years old with a 14 year old daughter, Elva, making Eliza an old mother at birth. More than likely she was their orphaned granddaughter whom they raised, daughter of Samuel.

The 1880 Agricultural Census showed him as a wealthy man.

The History of Franklin Co recorded:

"He remained at home, at work upon the farm of his father, until twenty-three years of age, when he was married, on the anniversary of his birth.....After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Lisle remained on his father's farm, in Clinton, some seven or eight years, when they removed to Hamilton, and settled on the farm on which they now live."

"Mr. Lisle has always been engaged in farming; has given strict attention to his chosen occupation; and has lived a quiet, unostentatious, but useful life. He has held various official trusts in the township, and for three years was director of the county infirmary."

Harvey LISLE [Parents] was born on 9 Oct 1826 in Hamilton Twp, Franklin Co, OH. He died on 10 Aug 1910 in Hamilton Twp, Franklin Co, OH. He was buried on 12 Aug 1910 in Obetz, Franklin Co, OH. He married Priscilla Moore on 21 Oct 1847 in Franklin Co, OH.

The county history recorded: "George Hays located, at an early date, in secion twenty-four, and occupied, as a renter, the farm now owned by Harvey Lisle."

Harvey lived his entire life on his father's homestead, keeping the land in the Lisle name for over 100 years.

1860 By census time his family had grown to 5 children. His property = $1200 and he was a listed as a farmer.

1870 His property had grown to $19,000 and there were 7 children at home.

12/29/1872 He and Priscilla took all 8 children to the Zion Lutheran Church in Obetz to be baptized by Rev Emanuel Schmidt with grandfather, George Moore, as sponsor.

1880 The census found 6 children living at home, including George at 30, Eli at 27 and Robert at 24.

The 1880 Agricultural Census showcased Harvey's wealthy compared to most men of the day:

3 acres permanent meadow or pasture or orchard
62 acres woodland
Value of farm = $12, 550
Farm implements and mahinery = $300
Livestock = $860
Amount paid for wages for farm help in 1879 = $350 for 25 weeks of hired labor
Estimated value of farm productions = $1330

It continued by listing everything including animals, died and born, amount of butter made, eggs produced, acreage per crop, including potatoes.

A granddaughter remembered him as a kind and gentle man.

Cause of death was organic heart disease. During his last days he lived with son Samuel who was the informant for the death certificate and said his grandparents were Peter Lisle and Isabel McIntyre.

All Harvey's children and inlaws declined administration of his estate and asked the court to appoint Frank S Miller to the job, which he accepted.

Priscilla Moore died in 1899 in Hamilton Twp, Franklin Co, OH. She married Harvey LISLE on 21 Oct 1847 in Franklin Co, OH.

Unless there was another Samuel Lisle, this man died earlier, estate records being dated 1845.

Eliza Jane Johnston died before 1880. She married Samuel Harvey LISLE.

The county history said she was still living at that time.

Sarah Ann "Sally" VAN GUNDY [Parents] was born in 1821 in Ross Co, OH. She died on 23 Aug 1852 in Wyandot Co, OH. She married Jacob Combs on 6 Sep 1837 in Crawford Co, OH.

Supposedly Sarah and Jacob had 19 children but they were only married 15 years before Sarah died at age 31, if her dates are correct as posted by the OH Gen Soc.
