Howard WOOD.Howard married Nellie HARRIS.

Nellie HARRIS [Parents] was born in 1884. She married Howard WOOD.

They had the following children:

  M i Harris WOOD.

He was old enough to sign his own name to the Powell family reunion roster in 1923.

As a Timothy of the First Christian Church of Sullivan, IL, he was ordained in 1939.

John GRIDER died in 1931. He married Montie May GREEN. John resided.

He was a judge in Moultrie Co, IL. The Powell family reunion minutes mention him as a speaker at various times. He and daughter, Grace, attended the 1921 reunion together, no mention of a second wife.

He was a judge there.

Montie May GREEN [Parents] was born in 1859. She died in 1896. She married John GRIDER.

There is a birth date discrepancy, her parents married long after she
was born!! Or perhaps she was a product of her father's first
marriage.

They had the following children:

Fred WEISMANTEL.Fred married Effie B GREEN.

Effie B GREEN [Parents] died on 1 Feb 1892. She married Fred WEISMANTEL.


Cassius W "Cash" GREEN [Parents] died after 1926. He married Kitty Moser.

He served as Circuit Clerk for Moultrie Co, IL for a number of years.

He and his wife were in attendance at the 1926 Powell family reunion.

Kitty Moser.Kitty married Cassius W "Cash" GREEN.

They had the following children:

Ulysses G POGUE.Ulysses married Lola GREEN. Ulysses resided.

Lola GREEN [Parents] was born on 11 Jun 1874. She married Ulysses G POGUE.

She returned from WA in time for the 1930 Powell family reunion at Sullivan, IL.


Johann George ZUMWALT was born in 1741 in PA. He died in 1815 in KY.

He had the following children:

  F i Paralee ZUMWALT was born in 1772. She died in 1821/1825.

Daniel Adam COONROD [Parents] was born in 1793/1794 in Pendleton Co, VA. He died in 1831. He married Margaret BURBANKS about 1827.

From the Mills Family History: "Adam appears to have married a Miss Bourbon (was actually Burbanks) and settled on what we call the Washington Sear farm. He was something of a show-maker and horse doctor, rather of a mechanical turn, very rotund in build, it being said he was almost as tall lying down as standing up."

1824 Morgan Co, IL. Adam voted in the Mauvaisterre Pct along with his father, brother, William, and bro-in-law, David Van Gundy.

1826 Adam served as administrator of his father's estate.

1830 At census time, He lived just down the road from David Van Gundy, Woolery was in the same county. Adam's household consisted of 1 male 30-40, 1 male 10-15, 1 female 20-30, and 2 females under 5.

He was killed instantly when kicked in the head by a horse.

Absalem Peak served as administrator of Adam's estate.

Margaret BURBANKS was born in 1800/1810 in VA. She married Daniel Adam COONROD about 1827.

Apparently Margaret died shortly after her second marriage because the children were soon scattered out among relatives, mostly in Pike Co, IL.

They had the following children:

She was dying at the time her father was killed.
  F iii Sarah Ann COONROD was born in 1830.
  M iv Henry Harrison COONROD was born in 1833.

James Jr MILLS was born in 1790/1800 in Genesee Co, NY. He married Sarah "Sally" COONROD in 1824 in Morgan Co, IL.

1822 Morgan Co, IL. From the Mills Family History:

"James Mills Jr and oldest child drove through from the East with his father in 1822 in an ox cart, encountering all of the hardships common to that period, landing in Morgan County, where they appeared to have tarried around Diamond Grove for a time, somewhat south of where Jacksonville now stands. Then passing up all of that beautiful country to the west, down to where Exeter now stands, no better lying out of doors, early in the spring of 1823, eventually settling on the back bone of Apple Pie Ridge.

This was then a deep, dense thicket of timber, woven together with vines and inderbrush. But wood was needed for buildings, for fuel and for fencing - even for the construction of crude machinery, and there was the old spring not so far distant, one of the most necessary conviences of a home."

1830 Morgan Co, IL. In the census, there were living at James' house 1 male 30-40, 1 male 20-30, 2 males under 5, 1 female 20-30, 1 female under 5, next door was his brother-in-law, Adam Coonrod.

The Mills family were wealthy and very influential, being widely known in Illinois.

Sarah "Sally" COONROD [Parents] was born in 1801 in Pendleton Co, VA. She died in 1883 in Scott Co, IL. She married James Jr MILLS in 1824 in Morgan Co, IL.

They had the following children:

  M ii James MILLS was born in 1837.
  F iii Eliza MILLS died bef 1889 (18th yr of age).

Eliza was said to be "a most beautiful girl, filled with wit and humor, and was everybody's friend."
  M iv George MILLS. George resided in 1889.

George served as a Lt in a MO regiment for last 2 yrs of the Civil
War.
  F v Julia MILLS. Julia resided in 1889.
  F vi Sarah MILLS.

Benjamin HASKELL was born on 13 Aug 1790 in Deer Isle, Hancock Co, ME. He died after 1869 in Scott Co, IL. He married Sarah "Sally" COONROD in 1838 in Scott Co, IL.

Residences:

OH During his early manhood, he employed himself by rafting, hunting, and trapping along the Ohio and Mississippi rivers.

1826 Scott Co, IL. He entered the land and constructed a homestead but did not give up the Ohio home until sometime later. He eventually owned some 300 acres in different parts of Illinois.

Sarah "Sally" COONROD [Parents] was born in 1801 in Pendleton Co, VA. She died in 1883 in Scott Co, IL. She married Benjamin HASKELL in 1838 in Scott Co, IL.

Woolery\Ulrich COONROD [Parents] was born in 1768 in Augusta Co, VA. He died on 4 Jan 1838 in Jackson Twp, Franklin Co, OH. He married Elizabeth Brunnermach on 9 Aug 1798 in Pendleton Co, VA.

Residences:

4/11/1810 Chillicothe, Ross Co, OH. The local newspaper ran a list of all those who had letters at the Post Office, Woolery being among them.

1810 Pickaway Co, OH. Woolery and brother, Adam, were living next door to each other while the rest of the brothers lived in the next county of Fairfield according to the census.

1815 He was Justice of the Peace.

1826 Franklin Co, OH. He served as JP there, performing various wedding ceremonies.

Elizabeth Brunnermach was born in 1778. She died after 1850. She married Woolery\Ulrich COONROD on 9 Aug 1798 in Pendleton Co, VA.

They had the following children:

1810 Pickaway Co, OH. He along with Adam and Woolery Sr were on the tax list put our by the state Auditor.
